Gettlove

Los Angeles is facing an enormous problem with homelessness. The homeless population in Los Angeles County rose 12 percent compared with last year’s count, bringing the total population to nearly 59,000. The scale of the problem demands top-down policy solutions as well as a collective ability to respond empathetically to those suffering from homelessness.

Aileen created Gettlove to respond with kindness and empathy to homeless individuals and families in Los Angeles. Gettlove uses a companionship model, where staff and clients work collaboratively at developing and achieving goals. Gettlove hopes to demonstrate the importance of relationships and instilling a sense of belonging in each member of the community. Gettlove staff believe that success is not only measured by numbers, but by improvements in quality of life for clients and for the community.
